In the spring of our eighth grade year, our soccer team, the Haddonfield Lightening, came together for our first service project: our first Feed My Starving Children packing event. This Spring 2016 event at a local church is what sparked a love for service within the Teams Work for Good family.
Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization that coordinates the packaging and distribution of food to people in developing nations. The organization, with the help of volunteers like Teams Work For Good, has helped malnourished children in over 70 countries worldwide. Teams Work for Good has participated in the Feed My Starving Children packing event in Haddonfield, NJ for three years and the event in Cherry Hill, NJ for one year.
At the April 2016 event, our Haddonfield location packed 272,160 meals over six packing shifts with 1500 volunteers. All of these meals were sent to children in Haiti.
At the March 2017 event, We worked with about 1,570 other volunteers over 7 packing shifts to pack 326,592 meals for children in Somalia and Haiti.
In April 2018, we worked with about 2,000 other volunteers over 6 packing shifts to pack 500,000 meals. We most recently packed meals in October of 2019.
Teams Work For Good holds this event very close to our hearts, as it was our inspiration to turn our soccer team into a community service non-profit. For this reason, we have taken every opportunity to become more involved with this wonderful organization.
